““Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”” Matthew 11:28-30 MSG
Grace is being empowered to accomplish what you can't on your own by believing in the goodness of God. Overcoming sin, being used by God, and becoming fruitful are the results of grace. Jesus tells us that achieving a rhythm of grace comes by 3 steps: walking, working, and watching. When operating in these 3 steps, we are promised a recovered spirit, a restful soul, and a life of freedom. Remember, rhythm is systematic (a repeated pattern of movement or sound). God doesn't want us to operate in/with Him just occasionally. He desires for us to have a daily rhythm in pursuing Him. "Then He said to the crowd, 'If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me.'" Luke 9:23 NLT.
#1 - Walk
We must daily walk with God, work with Him, and watch Him move! Just as your body needs water to prevent dehydration, our spirit needs to encounter His presence daily. We cannot afford to skip out on our daily devotion with Him.
#2 - Work
Secondly, we must learn to work with God daily. Your soul was designed to be focused on serving others. Jesus says when we love others our joy becomes full. Paul says, "let love be your highest goal!" (1 Corinthians 14:1)
#3 - Wait & Watch
Thirdly, we need to wait and watch God move! Don't lose heart. God is bringing the harvest, just wait and watch! Let's walk, work, and watch in order to live out this unforced rhythm of grace!
