“Wake up, wake up! Clothe yourself with strength…Rise from the dust…remove the chains of slavery from your neck, O captive daughter.” Isaiah 52:1-2 (NLT)
God has created us and called us to be fully awake and fully alive to whom we are in Him and what He has created us to do. Difficult circumstances, disappointments, and distractions are just a few of the things that can cause us to fall asleep spiritually. Leonard Ravenhill said, “Jesus didn’t come to make bad men do good things. He came to make dead men live.”
In order to wake up and rise up, we must:
1. Hear the Voice of God and Encounter His Love
“The time has arrived---I mean right now! ---When dead mean and women will hear the voice of the Son of God and, hearing, will come alive.” (John 5:25) The Bible says that those who seek Him will find Him. I encourage you today, to make an effort to seek Him (in prayer/His Word). He’s waiting for you.
2. Believe that You Are Who God Says That You Are
“Forget about self-confidence; it’s useless. Cultivate God- confidence.” (I Cor. 10:12)
“Let’s just go ahead and be what we were made to be, without enviously or pridefully comparing ourselves with each other, or trying to be something we aren’t.” (Romans 12:6) We trade our weaknesses for His strength. Today, ask God to give you grace to let go of comparisons and be confident in who He has created you to be. Lean into Him and rely on His strength.
3. Get Rid of the Weight.
Unhealed wounds, sin, fear, regrets, etc. are all weights that can hold us down and keep us from running freely in our purpose.
“We must let go of every wound that has pierced us and the sin we so easily fall into. Then we will be able to run life’s marathon race with passion and determination…So consider carefully how Jesus faced such intense opposition from sinners who opposed their own souls, so that you won’t become worn down and cave in under life’s pressures, forgetting your destiny.”(Hebrews 12:1-3)
Today, make the decision to surrender fully to God. Give Him your weights and take on His yoke. The Bible says that His yoke is easy and His burden is light.
4. Get your hopes up!
“Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for His miraculous power constantly energizes you.” (Eph 3:20)
God is ready to do something new in your life. Let go of the disappointments of yesterday and start to dream again!
Today is your day to: encounter the love of God, believe you are who He says you are, get rid of the weights, and start to dream again! Greater things have yet to come!
